JOB DUTIES: Performs structural analyses for Huntsville Phantom Works in support of various programs and platforms. Primary focus would be supporting suppliers for commercial airplanes. Other potential areas of support would be spacecraft component analyses and ground systems analyses. Supports product design and verifies structural integrity by using and established analytical methods, finite element models and analyses, and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle. Supports the development of status presentations and formal structural analysis documentation. Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
JOB SKILLS: Mechanical or aerospace engineering degree preferred. Experience with modern structural analysis of aerospace structures and systems preferred. Comprehensive understanding of structural mechanics, failure theories, finite element modeling and analysis, mechanical properties of engineering materials, test and analysis verification methods, and industry certification requirements preferred.
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience.
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
12+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.
