***Part Time - 32 to 40 Hours Per Week***
JOB DUTIES: Develops and qualifies new materials, parts and processes to meet product requirements. Familiarity with Al, Mg and Fe-alloy metallurgy, mechanical and fatigue testing, failure analysis, metal forming, machining, heat treatment and carburizing is a plus. Produces specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of materials, parts and processes. Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations. Promotes standardization across business activities. Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs. Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements. Implements corrective and preventative actions. Work under general direction.
JOB SKILLS: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years of experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years of experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master and Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in metallurgical / materials science Engineering. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
This position is for a metallurgical / materials and process engineer with theoretical and practical experience with Al, Mg and Fe-alloy metallurgy, mechanical and fatigue testing, failure analysis, metal forming, machining, heat treatment and carburizing. Prior industry experience is preferred, especially in aerospace applications.
6+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.
