JOB DUTIES: Seeking a Communication Systems engineer. A candidate for this position must have a familiarity with spacecraft communication technologies, including Radio Frequency, front end processing and telemetry formats (CCSDS desirable). Ability to define and write specifications for communications systems and components where necessary. Knowledge of spacecraft communication mission lifecycles desirable, including interfacing with TDRSS and ground based networks. Familiarity with developing ground and flight based Interface Requirements Documents and Interface Control Documents is important. Understanding of signal transports, including RF, fiber optics and copper are needed. Working knowledge of Ethernet and wireless (IEEE) standards as well as switching, routing, security (IPSec) and network protocols is desirable. Knowledge of RF systems and components also desirable. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements. Integrates technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Understanding of System Engineering processes highly desirable.

JOB SKILLS: Several years experience in the design and development of communication systems is desirable. Operational and Test experience with communication systems is a plus.

Bachelors degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, physics or computer science.
8+ months — possible extension and possible FTE opportunity.
