Position Description

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship

We are currently looking for a Mid-Career Systems Engineer to join our team in Long Beach, CA applying Systems Engineering – Airworthiness principles, tools, and techniques to a continuing series of upgrades and improvements to the C-17 Globemaster III aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:
• Apply Systems Engineering principles, tools and techniques to the Design, Technical Documents, Testing, and Certification of aircraft.
• Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.
• Knowledge of aircraft systems, components, and loadable/non-loadable software.
• Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
• Knowledge of verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements.
• Ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance.
• Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
• Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
• Resolves cross-functional technical issues.
• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance is required

Requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• 3+ years of experience in a dedicated Systems Engineering role
• Experience with Systems Engineering tools
• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with any of the following is desired:
• 1+ years of experience applying systems engineering principles during the development of complex hardware/software solutions on an aerospace platform
• 1+ years of experience assisting in any of the following engineering areas: analyses for cyber security, requirements analysis, requirements management, design review process, risk management, airworthiness certification, or any other specialties engineering discipline

Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
